Spyware programs are designed to send back the information from effected computer to some server computer, some email address or on some ftp location. Some spywares only use the personal data to analyze the user habits and show the related advertisement. But there are spywares which catch important data like bank account details, credit cards information while shopping online, pay pal account details or other important information.
How the Spywares get in your system.
Now a days there are a number of ways by which your system can be affected with a spyware. It can be any removable media like Floppy disk, Flash Drive, Zip drive or a CD. But the main source of spywares is the internet and now a days a computer without an internet connection is a dead machine. While visiting different sites, checking email, downloading movies, games, online banking and even dealing our personal data or directory, we may not be alone there may be spyware programs getting our personal information or sending our visiting habits.
They use browser vulnerabilities to get the system control or install the spyware. But there is another easy way for them but that is more dangerous for normal user that is spywares come with some other freeware or shareware software and get installed in your system without user knowledge.
Precautions to keep spyware away from your computer.
1) Keep turn off the auto play function for Removable media (USB, Floppy disk, CD)
2) Always try to use Right click and then explore function instead of double click to open some drive especially removable media.
3) Keep your browser setting Medium or above and installed the latest patches from the vendor.
4) Read the instructions carefully if there is some pop-up dialog while browsing internet.
5) Do not install the activex control from a vendor until you are not sure it’s safe. Or check a certificate of the activex.
6) Always be careful when you are going to install some freeware or shareware.
